A growing child needs to eat on regularly basis as he/she needs energy and nutrition as per requirement of the body.
And the child needs to boost his energy in between the meals as they often get hungry in between the meals also. All the kids love to eat packaged food but as you know these snacks are full of refined flour, sugar and preservatives which are not good for their growth at all.
Snacks time is the good opportunity to give some nutrition to the kid. So, here’s the list some healthy snacks list.
1. Yogurt: It is good source of calcium and protein. It is excellent for digestive system of your kid and it will be an excellent snack in the morning.
* Avoid packed yogurt. Try to make ot at home.
2. Cottage cheese/ paneer
As you all are aware that paneer is an excellent source of protein and a good source of calcium, vitamin B12. It is very important for your kid’s growth and brain development.
You can make home made paneer and top it with black salt, pepper and fresh coriander leaves. It will be a good snack and your kid will love it.
3. Fruits
It will be a great source of energy and freshness for your kid. It may be any fruit of your kid’s choice.
It may be a banana, orange, pear, apple, papaya etc.
* Try to give seasonal fruit.
4. Sweet potato
Sweet potatoes are one of the richest sources of beta-carotene, a nutrient that can be converted into vitamin A by your body. It contributes to healthy eyes and skin. Homemade, baked sweet potato fries are a nutritious alternative to french fries.
5. Baked lady fingers
Lady fingers are a good source of vitamin C, dietary fiber and potassium. It will make a good and healthy snack for your kid’s hunger.
6. Popcorn
You may consider popcorn a junk food, but it’s really a nutritious whole grain.
As long as you don’t drown it in unhealthy toppings, popcorn can be a healthy snack for kids. Air-pop your own popcorn, drizzle it with a little butter, and sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese on top.
However, use caution when offering popcorn to younger children, as it can be a choking hazard.
7. Boiled eggs
They also contain lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids that are beneficial for eye health. Furthermore, they’re one of the best food sources of choline, a vitamin that’s necessary for proper brain development.
And the list goes on.. you may also give cucumber slices, carrots, veg grilled sandwich, veg fingers etc.
**Many kids get hungry between meals. A healthy snack can provide your kids with energy and help them get the nutrients they need on a daily basis. Offer your kids whole, unprocessed foods at snack time instead of prepackaged snack foods.
